This was my third time having Malaysian food. I have decided to try Malaysian again because the first two times were like a blur. You know you’re getting old when you slow down and take time to savor each bite. So my intention this time was to savor every bite of this cuisine. Well I would prefer to do this at a restaurant in Malaysia but ya gotta make the most of what ya have ….

The restaurant I picked turned out to be a tad on the ‘chi chi’ side which was a bit disappointing. There goes my dreams of enjoying ‘authentic’ Malaysian food …well we can throw that idea out now. But I have to give them credit for the trendy ambience of the restaurant. I haven’t seen kerosene lamp for so long and there they are one on each table as the center piece. The place was so damn dark that there could be a roach in your dish without you knowing it.

I don’t know much about Malaysian culture and very little about their food. I do know that Malaysian food somewhat combines  authentic and re-invented tastes from Malays,  Chinese, and Indian cuisines. This could be a generalization but coconut milk and curry are often found in Malaysian dishes. Anyhow, I’m ready to chow down some cheap street foods in sticky sweaty humid weather…aren’t you?
