Wuxi is no Beijing. There are no impressive historic monuments like the Forbidden City or the Great Wall here. There is however Taiju Lake in Wuxi, which is Chinas third largest lake. Dont ask me about Chinas first and second largest lakes though because I have no clue. I'm sure this lake must be beautiful when the sun is shining however it was too misty for us to appreciate its beauty to the fullest.

Wuxi is also home to the Lingshan Wonderland of Buddhism. This place has been Disneyfied for sure. And instead of everyone clamoring to get their pictures taken with Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, people clamor to get their pictures taken with Buddha statues. Everything here is modern and very commercialized. This isnt a historical religious site or a real temple but rather a newly built theme park. Quite artificial in my opinion. The main attraction at the Lingshan Wonderland is the giant standing Buddha quite similar to the one in Hong Kong. Theres a musical fountain show of a lotus giving birth to a golden baby Buddha. Dont really understand the concept here but somewhat impressed with the water fountain.

There are also 2 massive brand spanking new palaces made out of 700 tons of bronze. Before you could go inside, you have to put shoe covers on your feet. The inside of one of the palaces is all marbley and shiny. It looks a lot like a cathedral or more like a high-end hotel in Vegas.
