When I picked Peru as my travel destination, I wanted to see something different, something unique, something out of the ordinary. Of course the inherent greatness of Machu Picchu was one of the reasons, but it was more about seeking for that ‘something’ that has never fallen into my travel routine. As my tour through Peru progressed, I discovered that the rest of Peru had been neglected and overlooked because of all the hype about Machu Picchu. There are many faces of Peru – more than Machu Picchu. The enchanting Lake Titicaca. The lovely crisp cool air full of history of Arequipa. The romantic hills full of tourists of Cusco. The mysterious greatness of the Andes. The powerful wilderness of the Amazon. The colorful dresses of the indigenous people. The genuine smiles of the locals. The exotic delicious taste of cuy….and many many more.  

As I have come to term, traveling IS about the destination. Contradicting to the common cliche I have heard somewhere that traveling isn't about the destination, it's about how you get there or something like that. To me traveling is exactly about the destination. The destination is the utmost reason that I choose to travel in the first place. Without a destination you would end up wasting your energy for no good reasons. Some people may think it is not always stupid to do things without reasons. You do everything for a reason, even if you're not consciously aware of why. But this is completely beyond the point here :-)

But what about the destination that is so important. Why do people cross the oceans, fly thousands of miles across continents, or whatever the means of traveling maybe, just to get to that little tiny point on the planet (or in the universe)? To me, it is simply about 'being there'. It is ultimately about self fulfilling. How we choose to be there is subjective and varies among us. Some might choose travel to visit friends and family. Some may seek to explore and see the world. While some others dwell on adventures, cultures and many other 'self fulfilling' activitives.

I took the Voigtlander Bessa R3M with the Nokton 40mm 1.4 with me on the trip as a backup camera. The only thing about shooting with film is that there is no instant gratification. I usually try to accumulate up to at least 5 rolls before sending them out for processing. The delay was not entirely a bad thing. It reawakens great memories as I was looking through the scans.
